They're not the absolute cheapest but what really sets them apart is the company that supplies them. Trevor James & Co. specialise in woodwind & brass and they design/manufacture themselves. They have a small, dedicated team in Maidstone (England) setting up EVERY instrument by hand and they genuinely care. Good student mouthpieces are bought in separately to make the sax easy to blow from your very first attempt.

Yamaha Saxophones: The teacher's favourite! More often recommended than any other make of student sax.

The Sax-Pack: The included tuition DVD is aimed firmly at the beginner and assumes no prior knowledge. It teaches you to play and its great fun - what more could you ask for? The stand will encourage practice - seeing your sax standing in the corner on it's own will make you want to pick it up and play! A case, reeds, cork grease, strap, assembly & care instructions complete the set up. This formula has already created several thousand new sax players and we call it the SAX-PACK. This excellent DVD is aimed firmly at the beginner. Whatever style you eventually want to play, the basics have to be learned. Too many people give up at this stage because the learning can be laborious and discouraging. This DVD makes learning interesting and fun. It may take weeks or months to master techniques contained within the DVD but there is no time limit, work at your own pace and enjoy the process.

Filmed on location in 2008 at sax.co.uk (the saxophone temple!) in Crowborough, East Sussex and featuring our own Jim Cheek. This tuitional DVD is the result of many years playing, teaching and consulting with teachers and players. Having shown thousands of people how to get started, the team here at sax.co.uk are in an ideal position to help give you the best possible start.

The DVD takes you from the absolute beginning and assumes you have no knowledge of the sax or reading music. It will quickly get you playing your first tunes and culminates in a really fun blues improvisation track where you play along with a "live" band.

I started renting Trevor James Classic Sax-Pack from you in November 2005 which I later purchased. I had never played a musical instrument before and couldn't read music. A friend has helped me learn to not only play the Sax but also to read music and on July 7th at the age of 31 I sat and passed the ABRSM Grade 3 Alto Saxophone exam. If it hadn't been for the excellent service you provide with your Sax-Packs I probably would never have even tried to learn the Saxophone. I received my Alto sax about a week ago and I've hardly stopped playing it. It's wonderful. I am glad I decided to buy it rather than rent because I can learn at my own pace and it's mine! When it arrived I couldn't wait to get it out and start playing. My family and friends think it is gorgeous, It is beautiful. I still can not believe that I finally have a saxophone. I am so pleased with it. Your service was truly brilliant , even after a few technical hitches on my part you still provided a professional service. Just a short note of thanks. The sax is excellent and everything I need. The tone is much better that the old one I had and I can get down to bottom B flat with control and softness I could never do that on the old one.
