Subject: My new saxophone
Hi sax.co.uk, just a quick note to say the sax was
ordered Thursday and arrived as promised on Friday just in time for my
saxophone quartet's performance one the weekend (see enclosed photos). I
must say the Yanagisawa curved soprano 991 plays lovely, the key work is
fast and the intonation is spot on, having a jazz saxophone performance
diploma I'm fussy when it comes to saxes and this one has exceeded my
expectations.
Thanks again! Best wishes, Andrew Kerensky FRSA, DipLCM.

Wow! This is a different experience from my Mk6. The
sound is huge and at last I can play the bell notes without special
contortions of the embouchure. Very exciting. I keep trying to put it down
for a minute ........ looking for the "cry" .......... it's in there, I've
heard it. 40 years on the same horn makes this quite a new and delightful
thing. First impressions: excellent, and getting better as we get to know
each other. Many thanks to you all, all the way back to the factory - and
the guys out east who bothered to find out how to produce this miraculous
horn! Regards, Robin (Jersy)

Just a quick, slightly belated email to say I got my Berg grained ebonite and am really pleased with it's performance. It's matches up great with my beautiful 1936 conn M10. It's amazing the the difference doing a gig with a set up you feels so confident in can make to your playing and enjoyment. I have to say Jules did suggested a Berg ebonite to me last year, but You know what it's like, we have to take our own route to get to the same out come. Your advice Jim, regarding both the Lawton and the Berg has been invaluable, and the service from Saxophones.co.uk has as usual been first rate, always a friendly voice and good advice who ever answers the phone. Keep up the good work boy's and girl's. Thanks. Colin Gavigan. Glasgow

A Big thank you - TJJ Rev II Tenor & Audio Technica ATM350CW Mic
I would just like to say thank you for delivering my TJJ Rev II Tenor so quickly last September, I decided last minute to treat myself for my birthday, and low and behold it arrived the next day (on my Birthday) I could not have been happier J I hadn’t played for a while and when the tone of the Sax went muffled I called for advice, the chap I spoke to was most helpful, and as it turned out it was that my embouchure had strengthened quicker than I had anticipated and I needed a stronger reed. I then ordered an Audio Technica ATM350CW Mic with ATW701 UHF Diversity Wireless system last week, again, your service could not have been better. It arrived the next day and the guys I play with were astounded by the improvement in sound, previously I had been using a vocal mic pointed downwards. I will certainly be using and recommending (I have already) Sax.uk. Looking forward to doing business with you again, it’s not often you can say that these days. Thank you again, Simon (Wheezy) Lee

Hi Guys, I'd just like to express my gratitude for all
the help you have given me over the last few months with your
recommendations and expert opinion on the Tenor Saxophones I was thinking of
upgrading to from my TJ "The Horn" Revolution II. I have fairly deluged you
with emails about virtually all the makes and models you carry and have
found your responses both prompt and full of excellent advice. I finally
visited you today and was really impressed with the service and the fact
that you gave me all the models from my wish list to try and let me practice
with them at my own speed. For the sound I wanted there was only one winner
which was the P Mauriat PMXT 66R which matched exactly the reviews you carry
on your web site. So a big thanks to you all and I wouldn't hesitate to
recommend your services to anyone who is really serious about Saxophones.
Please feel free to use this on your web site if you would like to. Best

On Friday afternoon I spoke
to Phil about mouthpieces. In short I was having major difficulties with a
Dave Guardala Superking which I bought without taking any advice. Phil spent
some time talking through my playing and needs before making a
recommendation. I followed his advice and made an order. The metal
Yanagisawa mouthpiece was delivered the following morning and I have had a
fine time this weekend. What a remarkable difference. Please thank
Phil for his time and expertise. I should have spoken to him before I made
the initial purchase. Once again the Saxophone.co.uk experience has been a

I bought the P.Mauriat PMXT-66R from you last week as a
backup to my classic 62 and it is beautiful I must say, and what an amazing
player. I also just got the Beechler 7 I ordered for tenor in the post this
morning from having ordered only yesterday. It is just perfect. I always played
the bellite 7 on alto and never changed my setup and wonder why I never bought
the exact same for tenor, but now I have and its everything I needed. Perfect. I
want you to pass on this message to everyone at sax uk to say thanks for a
wonderful job and taking the time to offer the absolute best service in the
saxophone business. Thankyou. Take care and Regards, Benedict Branca.Sent: Saturday, October 20, 2007 10:49 AM Subject: Thanks (P.Mauriat PMXT-66R & Beechler mouthpiece) Hi there, I received my Runyon Quantum metal mouthpiece on Thursday, the day after ordering. As I bought it mainly to make plenty of volume with a Bollywood band, I was delighted to find it can also make beautiful sounds and is in fact a fantastically versatile mouthpiece! I think we will form a lasting relationship! Many thanks for the quick delivery and and excellent product. Yours Roger Tempest.
Once again you guys excelled yourselves. Having
received good advice and excellent service in purchasing my first sax
earlier this year I took my Tutor’s advice and decided to buy a new
mouthpiece. I have been wanting to try them out but most shops won’t allow
it because of ‘hygiene’. Sax.co.uk said it was no problem at all. So I
travelled from Gloucestershire to Crowborough and arrived 10 minutes before
closing. Unlike other places this was not a problem and the store remained
open for over 30 minutes more whilst I tried the products and made my
decision. Nice to see that customer service still exists in this country and
next time I will arrive early so I can browse and enjoy the store (and
definitely spend a whole load more). Many thanks to your staff and (on this
occasion Jim). Nothing is ever too much trouble and I appreciate all your
patience and help. Please feel free to quote from this as part of your
testimonials. You guys deserve it. Tony (novice Saxophonist…but getting
there).

I started renting Trevor James Classic Sax-Pack from
you in November 2005 which I later purchased. I had never played a
musical instrument before and couldn't read music. A friend has helped
me learn to not only play the Sax but also to read music and on July 7th at
the age of 31 I sat and passed the ABRSM Grade 3 Alto Saxophone exam.
If it hadn't been for the excellent service you provide with your Sax-Packs
I probably would never have even tried to learn the Saxophone. Thank

endorsement for Lawton, I play alto, tenor and bari; and now use Lawton

7*B on Bari. Once again, thank you. Regards, Alex Kavanagh

Well, if you guys were looking to impress, you've done it again. As you know, I was a little worried in case this mpc was too much for my level but it is exactly what I wanted and exactly as you described it. I got a fantastic tone "right out of the box". It was real easy to go right down to low B flat and the few Altissimo notes I've tried popped right out. I put a Vandoren jaZZ 2.0 reed on first off to try it and had to push that a bit more over the tip than I would usually (not excessively) and will now spend a bit of time trying other reeds/strengths. So, thanks again. With this and the new Vandoren metal T75 I just bought for my tenor from you, I feel like I'm well and truly "sorted". Cheers Dougie
Just a word of sincere thanks for the most incredible

Darn, you guys are good! I've just one thing to say about

messing about with the one that came with my sax for the past year now.
It's very comfortable to play and I can get much higher notes and they sound
stronger. It gives a lovely bright loud sound and I love the
edge that the spoiler gives. It's just what I was after and I
can't wait to take it to band practice on Thursday and give the guitarists
something to worry about. Har de har har! Thanks very much. I'm
sure I'll be shopping with you again soon. Rachel
What can I say? Having for years wanted to play the
saxophone I finally bit the bullet and bought a saxophone. As price was an
issue I wanted the best deal and Sax.co.uk seem to offer the best packaged
deal, but at what price I thought? All I can say is you may be lower in
price but not your service.I ordered the package at 2:00 p.m. Was informed
by UPS at 3:00 p.m. the order was with them. By midday the following day I
had my saxophone and all the extras I’d ordered. I only wish my first few
efforts at playing had been as successful. Thank you Sax.co.uk for a lower
price but with no compromise on the service. Well done. Keep up the standard

Subject: Yamaha YAS62
The Yamaha YAS 62 Alto I ordered from you on Monday arrived the following day. Many thanks for your fast service and help. My son’s music teacher did a double take when she saw the sax and was astonished by the price; she had recently bought a YAS 475 for her son for £875 and thought she cut a great deal. In our local music shop, the YAS 475 is on special offer. At £1,275. More importantly, the YAS 62 sounds just fantastic. My son has astonished me with his abilities to make the ‘horn’ sing. He is only 11, but he just plays it. His few weeks on a YAS 23, with a ‘not right for a young mouth’ metal Brancher on it, has paid off. A 4C mouthpiece is, he says, much easier to control and less tiring. But the Brancher is greased and ready to swap when he wants to make a ‘jazzier’ sound. Indulgent parents make me sick, but I believe a good teacher and a great instrument are the best ways to get a child started. Grade 4 clarinet in the summer and, to my surprise, straight in for Grade 3 sax. If he keeps playing in 20 years time, I know he will still have a great sax in the YAS 62. So that makes it a real bargain in my book. As to the YAS 23, that is now mine and I love it. No F# key, but it will be a long time before I can play anything that needs to go that high! Thanks and best wishes, James de Havilland

sax, and I'm writing to say what a great idea I think it is. I thought that,
having left school, I wouldn't get the chance to learn to play an instrument
unless I bought one outright. I stumbled across your website quite by
accident, but what a happy accident it turned out to be! I think everyone
should have the opportunity to learn to play, and giving someone the gift of
music is one of the most wonderful things anyone can do. I've wanted to play

old, but sadly never got the chance in school. Thank you so much for the
opportunity. I absolutely love it and intend to buy asap! Lisa Scully

My friend and I travelled down to East Sussex to your shop on Saturday 8th October, 2005. I wanted to buy either a professional alto or a tenor sax. Given your extensive range, I wanted to try out as many as possible within my price range. When we arrived we were met by Jim Cheek. We were made to feel incredibly welcome. Jim could not do enough for us… He allowed me to try out several different models in one of the two music rooms available in the shop. Jim offered expert advice and discussed my requirements with me thoroughly. He gave me ample opportunity to make a decision… he was always available to answer queries but was not at all ‘pushy’. In the end I settled for a Custom Yamaha YAS82-Z with black lacquer. I am thrilled with this! Sadly it is all too rare to come across good service in Britain these days. So it was a pleasure to receive absolutely first class service from www.saxophones.co.uk. I cannot recommend this company highly enough! It was an extremely long journey to East Sussex from Birmingham, where I live, but it was completely worth the effort. Rest assured that after my experience today, I would not consider going anywhere else for my sax requirements! Many thanks and please pass on my special thanks to Jim for his kindness and superb attention. Best wishes, Dr. Brian Levy

Just a quick message of thanks.. Received my Trevor
James Classic sax today. As I mentioned I have been playing the clarinet for
2 years, from scratch at the age of 44 with no prior musical background.
You're advice was spot on. First blow I got a note, then got a bit fed up
because I couldn't blow the low notes so I left it a couple of hours.. Then
got going again like a speed train. Low notes came, high notes sounded
great. Within an hour I was playing most of my clarinet music. The fingering
is so much easier, and no over the break. The sax looks and plays excellent.

Horn I have just rented from you. I was one of the idiots who bought a cheap
Chinese import from ebay, and cannot believe the difference in quality, my
playing sounds so much better, the instrument is lighter and easier to
handle, the keys are freer, lighter to press, and the tone is totally
different. The Chinese import I bought, (not knowing much about
saxophones) may look like a saxophone, but the comparison ends there! Thank
you so much for the excellent service you offer, it has made playing a

Your quality of service is excellent; you deserve every success with your business. It is unusual these days to find good service or even a please and thank you. This doesn’t matter so much in the supermarket or garage forecourt, this is because buying fuel or doing the weekly shopping isn’t a lifelong dream so if you get treated badly what the hell. My point is, when I contacted you 6 weeks ago and asked some probably dumb questions you were patient and polite, and informed me well but were not pushy in any way, this has led to what is probably the most frustrating and rewarding experience I have ever had. My dream of being a competent sax player one day is still in tact and this is mainly due to your initial attitude towards me. Bubbles can be so easily burst by some git with a bad attitude. I am practicing 1½ to 2 hours a day at the moment so hopefully another 3 months or so and I can come and visit you all and you can hopefully fit me with a new mouthpiece for each sax. That will be the most you’ll be able to sell me for a while, wife’s stolen or hidden my cards, (Phil had some idea about me not having a Baritone Yet!) Naughty Phil said Elaine(wife) as she picked up her Brand New Gold Lacquer Dave Guardala Alto, “with flowers on”.!!!! Please feel free to use any part of this email or photo etc on your website should you wish to. Thanks again folks, Kindest Regards, Shaun & Elaine Pryde From: Mihali

Sent: 03 December 2004 13:17 Just wanted to say that it has been 1 year since I purchased my sax from you and I have been having lessons for almost 1 year. Have just effectively passed my Grade 1 and am taking Grade 2 in March 2005. I want to thank you for your help and advice when I first purchased it and your prompt service for all the products I have purchased from you throughout this year. I order online late in the afternoon and it arrives next morning in first post (only post nowadays).- Brilliant!. I'm selling you to my Sax teacher slowly. Its nice to have a company that gives good service as there aren't many of you around these days. Good wishes to you all. Anne Lee

Sent: 02 December 2004 16:18 Subject: Great service Just a few lines to thank you. More traders like you needed in this world. Arrived home and could not wait to try the new Yamaha YTS 875 II. It is just sheer glory. Although I’m a beginner, I could immediately get the lower notes out with ease, and the higher notes now come in rich and crisp. What a difference, it makes me feel like a virtuoso. The new mouthpiece fits me a lot better too. Your help is truly appreciated, and I could not be happier. I look forward to a long business relationship, and I will have no hesitation recommending you to any future costumers. Many Thanks. I have been looking to purchase a David Guardala Tenor Mouthpiece for a little while now and was struggling to find one. Not only did you have what I wanted in stock, but it arrived the very next day at 9am. Gigged with it for the first time last night. Wow! what a difference. Thank you for taking the time to talk to me about the M/P it really helped me make my mind up. Just got to get a decent lig for it now and I’ll be sorted. Thanks again, I would definitely recommend you to anyone. Andrew Davey

Sent: 05 November 2004 10:09 Subject: Yamaha 875 soprano & Guardala Crescent tenor mouthpiece Great service, all arrived safely within 24 hours. Great saxophone too, and it looks beautiful. Even more of a revelation was the Crescent mouthpiece, which lives up to all you said about it. I had been worried about the rather open lay but it turns out to be significantly easier to play than my Lawton 6. I don't fully understand why but also don't intend to spend any time worrying about it, as it plays so well. It really is like having a new sax. Best wishes, Tony

P.S. If somebody has questions about it - don't hesitate to
use me as a reference; I'll tell them what a horn that is. And if you looking
out for refs for this horn on your web-page; it would be an honour to be the
first one.

Sent: 21 October 2004 17:37 Subject: Thank you Dear people at Saxophones.co.uk, It is not often that I get the chance to praise someone for offering an excellent service. Three months ago I hired a Trevor James tenor sax pack from you which I have since decided to purchase.
In the mean time I have also ordered other items from
you, most recently the Eddie Daniels Rovner ligature. I would like to thank
you very much for the extremely prompt and reliable service you have
maintained. The speed of your responses has been extremely impressive. Your
web site is also very impressive. Easy to use with much useful information.
I look forward to making further purchases for all my sax requirements from
you in the future. Once again a big well done. Regards Yusuf Zaid

The tone is much better that the old one I had and I can get down to bottom B flat with control and softness I could never do that on the old one.
Thanks for all your help Best Regards Phil

[mailto:simon.hingley@pera.com] Just to say thanks for the inspired advice yesterday! I know I came in wanting an ebonite mouthpiece, but the Guardala just felt right straight away. The lighter reed makes a big difference as well. I had a good blow at rehearsal last night, and it was brilliant. Thanks again, Simon Hingley From:

sjjohnson70@hotmail.com Hi, I never write to companies to applaud them - if I've paid for something I expect it to do what it says on the tin - but I have to say your recommendation was spot on! I phoned an order in at 13:20 yesterday and the mouthpiece arrived at 07:20 this morning! I've just given it a good workout - first impression was good, even better when I put the lig on the right way round (duh), and when I put my Rovner Dark lig on, it just took off. Sounds great, intonation superb, easy to play in all registers and hardly any fatigue. Really flatters the sax and my playing - so much closer to the sound in my head that I am kicking myself for not changing before. The best £85 I've spent in ages! So, thanks a million!
