Sax Repairs, Servicing & Customisation

Our sax repair workshop is fully equipped to breath new life into your sax.

From complete re-builds of vintage horns to just simple "on the spot" adjustments, all welcome.
Almost any sax can be made playable again so if you have an old instrument let us quote you to recondition it.

When was your sax last serviced?

Even if you have a modern sax with no immediately obvious defects you'll be surprised how much it could benefit from an inexpensive annual check and adjust. Difficult notes will speak clearly again, eliminate annoying squeaks and rattles etc.

Ideally bring your sax in for a quotation.  If this is not possible you can arrange collection by UPS, DHL, Parcelforce or any other reputable courier at their standard charge (plus insurance).  We highly recommend you pack the sax well and mark it "fragile."

If it is more convenient, take your sax to our London workshop  where full time sax tech. Mark Bishop will give you an estimate.

The following are guide prices only.
For a truly accurate quotation we need to inspect your saxophone.

A set-up and adjustment service on a sax used for student/non-professional use will usually take 1-2 hours (costing £35-£70) and involve the following:

  • Checking for & rectifying leaks: This is the most common reason for a sax being difficult to play. We use powerful lights to detect any leaks that show up when the key is depressed with the lightest touch and adjust it accordingly.

  • Cleaning sticky pads.

  • Checking and adjusting the fit of the neck/crook & octave mechanism.

  • Checking and reporting the condition of pads, springs, corks & felts. If any of these components require replacing an additional charge will be made after customer authorisation.

  • Checking and adjusting the mechanical action.

  • Extensively play testing the sax.

A sax used professionally often requires a more thorough service involving all the above plus a full strip down, clean and re-assembly with replacement of parts as necessary. Quotations will be provided on inspection of the sax.

Subject: Sax Repair 30/7/08 - Many Thanks

Just a quick thank you to all at Sax.co.uk!

After suspecting some of my pads were leaking I decided it was time to get it serviced and gave you a call. I was told that it could be fitted in the same day and serviced while I waited, which was excellent!! 2 hours later I dropped it in to the shop and waited while it was being done. The service was excellent and everyone was really helpful and friendly! While I was waiting I tried out the P. Mauriat PMXT-500 BX which I loved...so am now seriously thinking about getting it!

The service was very thorough and gave me bags of confidence that the tech guys knew their stuff...all in all it made a huge difference to my sax and it plays much better now!

Thank you once again for the excellent service I experienced

Regards

Just a word of sincere thanks for the most incredible service you have given me. To have posted my sax on a Friday, had it checked and tweaked and back to me to play on the following Tuesday is unbelievable (but true) particularly since I live in North Northumberland!  I have traded with many companies throughout the years in many different trades but never one like yours for personal and speed of service. All your staff deserve to be congratulated for looking after your customers so well. No matter where you live, Sax.co.uk is the place to go if you want a sax and everything that goes with it. Kindest regards Mike
