TJ TJ "The Horn" Straight Soprano Sax in black nickel
Black nickel is more than just a colour. The sax is made from regular brass, then black nickel plated. This thin layer of nickel produces it's own resonance giving greater clarity to the sound. By comparison, solid black lacquer has a dampening effect on the vibrations enhancing a warmer, darker tone.

What makes Trevor James saxes different?

Well, they're made in Taiwan as are most of the better student models such as Earlham and Elkhart. What many people don't know is that the Taiwanese also produce some of the worlds most highly respected professional saxes such as the Steve Goodson Unison models.

Uniquely, Trevor designs in the UK and manufactures in his own Taiwanese factory. Every sax is then checked & adjusted in his UK workshops before delivery to the customer. This gives him complete control over design and quality and ensures you receive a sax Trevor is confident to put his own name on.
